Benefits of drinking water.

It is very important to drink water daily, water is essential for life, and it plays a vital role as all the metabolic processes required for growth and development requires a liquid medium. The water we drink is absorbed by the intestines and circulated throughout the body in the form of body fluid such as blood. These perform various functions that keep us alive. They deliver oxygen and nutrients to the cells and take away the waste materials, which are then eliminated with urination. An average human is expected to drink at least 5 litres of water per day. There are lots of benefits to drinking water:

  • Drinking water has an extraordinarily positive impact on the skin and health, insufficient water in the body leads to dehydration which causes wrinkles, dry skin, rashes and other skin disorders. Adequate water intake helps keep the skin soft, hydrated, clear and lustrous. It also helps in having a youthful appearance.
  • Adequate hydration helps maintain proper kidney function. Flushing too little water through the kidneys can lead to kidney problems such as kidney stones because water helps dissolve minerals and nutrients and remove waste products.
  • Drinking enough water helps the digestive system. It helps to form the saliva we need to start breaking down the food as we consume them, without an adequate supply of water, the stomach experiences increased concentration of acid, and the intestine cannot break down food or transport food waste through the body effectively, this can lead to gastric distress, like heartburn, constipation, stomach ulcers.
  • Adequate consumption of water helps regulate blood pressure. Dehydration can lead to a thinning of the blood, which, in extreme cases, can cause dangerous drops in blood pressure that could harm the internal organs. But drinking enough water helps maintain a healthy blood consistency and keep blood pressure numbers within the recommended ranges.
  • The benefits of drinking water for weight loss and healthy weight maintenance are also substantial. Juices and many sodas are high in calories and sugar. Extra calories quickly lead to added weight, and excessive sugar consumption can lead to cravings that wreak havoc on a thoughtfully planned diet. Water contains no calories and can help the body feel full and stave off cravings.
