It is essential to have healthy teeth and gums because it is the first process of digestion, teeth are needed to digest food well, when you don’t keep the teeth and gum clean it causes the outbreak of mouth odour which is caused by the presence of decayed food substances and, also, decayed or rotten teeth caused by lack of cleanliness can lead to serious infections that may affect other parts of the body. The body’s natural defences and good oral health care, such as daily brushing and flossing, keep bacteria under control. However, without proper oral hygiene, bacteria can reach levels that might lead to oral infections, such as tooth decay and gum diseases.

How to keep the teeth and the gums healthy.
It is important to keep the teeth and gums healthy to avoid unnecessary teeth and gums issues, there are several ways to keep the teeth and gums healthy:
- Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste: this helps to clear every food residues that can cause bacteria between the teeth.

- Quit smoking, it increases the risk of gum diseases.
- Floss regularly.
- Eat a well balanced diet.
- Visit your dentist routinely for a check up and cleaning.
- Avoid too many sweets: Eating many sweets like candy, pastry, coffee with sugar rots the teeth quickly.

- Fresh fruits and vegetables that are crunchy and full of fibre can help keep teeth clean and healthy, and lower the risk of plaque buildup.
- Water.
- Sugar free gum.
- Tea.
- Nuts.
- Whole grains.

Some foods kill mouth bacteria with the aid of some essential nutrients, foods with high phosphate and calcium, cheese and milk help neutralize the acid in the mouth, killing bacteria and preserving tooth enamel.
